I am currently sitting on the runway of the Atlanta Airport, half way home from Denver. Just spent a few extra days there, hanging out with Brad. For the past few nights, we’ve experienced a good bit of the beer culture in Denver, which, as it may be, is a fairly robust culture. We had a good time, kept it legal, and enjoyed ourselves.
While hanging out, I took my camera along, which is something I haven’t done in a long time. Pretty much since I moved to Boca, its come out only on a single occassion….considering how much I have enjoyed photography in the past, that’s gotta change. So I’m looking forward to assulting Dagny and Pud with the camera in the coming week.
Speaking of which, this is the first week in awhile where I will be working from home. I am pretty excited about the idea. Especially when the following weekend, I am going to be traveling up to NY to my parents house and then working from Perth Amboy for the week…..then flying out to San Diego to meet up with Melissa…..I have a bit of flying coming up.
Ugh….and as I write this, I get closer and closer to missing my connecting flight. This is miserable. I hate Delta.
Being in Denver, one of the hubs of beer culture in the US, I was looking around for a brewery that I could tour…I stumbled upon this video. Now, I know that non-craft beer has helped to provide an income for my parents and an education for myself, but it still sucks.
“No end in sight” is how Melissa described my traveling every week. When I first started to travel, the issues that surrounded it, or so I thought at the time, would be isolated to dealing with delays, weather, bag storage space, etc. What I didn’t realize was how hard it was going to be on my home life. Its so very difficult to have 2 days at home and then be forced to do house work and projects, wedding planning, etc. Typically, people would go home after work and take care of many of those issues without even thinking about it. I don’t have that luxury, so I am stuck cramming it all into two-three days. Things have to change.
The current client that I am working on has been a bastard about making us go up to the work site. There have been weeks that I have not spoken to a single person of value the entire week, so there isn’t even a point of us being up there. I spoke to my employer and he agrees, so with the next round of contract negotiations, he’s going to be working towards getting us on a one week on, one week off type pattern. I am very much looking forward to it.
This week, I’m stationed up in Denver. I watched some football with Brad and had a few beers last night. I don’t know what we’re going to do tonight, but it’ll be nice to see him.
Well, the weekend is over. Not exactly a nice thought, but the next one will be here soon enough. Melissa and I had a nice Labor day weekend, so I can’t complain.
We participated in a wing competition at a friend’s house. We ended up beating out some still competition from 7 other teams. Our secret, or so Melissa claims, is the brown sugar in the butter based wing sauce, but I tend to believe it was more the deep fryer that we purchased in order to make it all come together….either way, we’ll shortly have the trophy in our living room.
Anyway, I am mobile blogging and on my flight, so I have to go as they are closing the door.
This past week, I was trying to get a piece of software running on my computer and I was visiting some less than savory sites in order to get some help. Some time, while plowing through the depths of the Internet, I must have stumbled across some virus like content. For the remainder of the week, I struggled with my laptop, trying to keep it connected and trying to stop it from locking up. Cleaned up my registry, uninstalled as many programs as I could, really just did a whole house, top-to-bottom cleaning. It didn’t work. At the end of it all, even with as much scanning as I could do and as much patching up as I could muster, the laptop was still giving me issues. So, I did what any other self-respecting self-proclaimed nerd would do, I installed the RC Windows 7 on my laptop.
As of last night, it was working just fine, but as I am typing this, waiting for Windows to start, I am quickly coming to the realization that all might not be well, as this is the second time that my computer has hung with a dark screen while booting. Hmmm… I was just going to write a post about how nicely it’s been working and how Windows immediately recognized all the components of my Gateway p-7805u, but no….now I have to go and see if I can’t get it working correctly. Oh jeez…what have I done.
Melissa and I arrived back in South Florida after a grueling 10 hour traveling ordeal which left us exhausted for pretty much the remainder of Sunday and all through Monday. So exhausted that I once again botched getting up and missed my flight to Greenville. Because I have status on Delta, it’s really not that big of a deal and it actually worked out fairly well. I got in last night around 10pm and got to spend the day with Melissa who took a vacation day.
I have to say…Vegas is a ton of fun. The last two times I went out there was back in College when I was on the wrestling team and frankly, it sucked. I was cutting weight, under age and overall it just wasn’t a very fun trip. Granted, we did enjoy ourselves, but nothing compared to this last go around.
I don’t want to go into gory detail about the trip, but I’ll run down a few of the things that, we really enjoyed. Ceaser’s Palace has been redone fairly recently, and it’s much nicer than I remembered. We saw Cirque’s erotica show, which was pretty interesting, though I am left wondering if we woudn’t have enjoyed “O” a bit more than the one we saw. We spend a good amount of time on the craps table. If you don’t know how to play, learn before you go to Vegas. It’s the most fun game out there. Machine Guns… yep, fired off my fair share at a shooting range. It was a hell of a lot of fun. There were some other cool things like the Playboy Club and ghostbar, but they weren’t really the stuff that sticks out to me. It was a hell of a good time and I’ll definitly go back for another long weekend.
Speaking of long weekends, in two weeks or so, I will be heading out to Denver for a work trip and am very much looking forward to seeing Brad while I’m out there. The Great American Beer Festival is also going on around that same time, but seeing as how it’s only a few weeks away, I don’t see myself being able to get tickets for the event. Either way, it’ll be nice to be able to go and hang out with Brad, watch some Football and relax instead of just sit in my room playing video games.
Speaking of that…. this evening is looking like it’s going to be a bad night for gaming as we’re going to be working on another client’s work tonight starting around 9pm. Not exactly something that I find very fun, working that late, but it’s good money so I’ll put in the hours for the client who happens to be a pretty important client to my employers. Anyway, I am going to go and crank out some more defects and see what I can get done for the rest of the day.
