Sound the Trumpets, Ring the Bells!!

05.31.05

Sound the trumpets, ring the bells, the babies are coming home tonight. Yep, I’m heading up the M-Town to get the two cats. Taking the two hour train up there, getting them, getting dinner, then heading back down to the city. Terrible. Not looking forward to it, but hell, you do what you have to do.
Thinking that today, since I didn’t go to lunch would be an excellent day to head out at 4:30, and take advantage of the little time that I do have and go for a run in this beautiful weather. I just know that at 4:15 a “project” will come and I’ll be super pissed.
Anyway, at least I’ll have the cats back.

Back to the Grind

05.31.05

Monday morning. 6:00. Hot as balls. Yes… balls in my bedroom. Get up, open the window, turn on the fan, lay back down.
6:24 – Realize that sleep was no longer going to happen. Hacking cough, stuffy nose, and too much beer the night before were too strong. Gave in to consciousness.
6:30- Shower. Excellent excellent cleansing shower.
6:45- Outside watering the “grass”. Yes, we planted our lawn this weekend, so we now get to water it many times a day in hopes that the grass will eventually grow and overpower the weeds. I’ll just be happy with a nice little mix, you know, like 60% weeds, 40% grass.
7:04- Sit down and play Socom II. Died. Many times. Finally was able to kill someone. Led in two rounds. It was very fulfilling.
8:00-Laid in bed with Laura trying to decide if skipping the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend was frowned down upon by employers. The answer was inevitably yes, so we got up and started getting ready.
So this weekend we had three days and three BBQs. It was quite good. Laura purchased a BBQ grill. It was one of the more interesting experiences I’ve had as of late. We got the grill (all 134lbs of it) in this huge ass box from Target. So we’re pushing it out on a dolly and the Target people explain that there are “Taxi’s” outside the doors. Turns out the taxis were really just guys with trucks and SUV’s that would haul your stuff. So we got into a Nissan Pathfinder with a Jamaican dude. Quite interesting. In retrospect it probably wasn’t the smartest thing, but ehh.. we got the grill home.
So we’re all stoked, so we put the grill together and realize that our propane tank that we got is empty.
One would think that it would be an easy thing to get propane, but no. It’s not. It’s NYC, most people don’t have back yards let alone BBQ grills. So we trek out to RedHook on that last stop on the G train to go to this welding supply store. Walked through GHETTO neighborhoods. Saw a woman with a cane, a mu-mu, and hole in her neck. Quite the crowd. So we finally get there and they tell us that they don’t fill tanks, so I’m like great, but they do give you replacements. So we gave them our brand new tank and they gave me a shitty old beaten up one. I was none too pleased.
So we get back on the subway and head back, hook up the propane, have steaks ready to go on and all we hear is hissing. Turns out that the propane tank we got was missing a damn washer. So off we go again carrying around this 50lb fucking propane tank to the hardware store. Long story short, we grilled some steaks.
Anywho. It’s almost 10:00, I should try to get some work done.

The Day is Dragging…Is that any surprise?

05.27.05

It’s 4:30. I’m tired. I’m bored. I’ve been doing anything I can to keep my mind of the tedium that is my job. RSA forms. That’s short for Request for Settlement Authority. Terrible terrible little monsters. Every time we settle a case I have to fill out one of those little bastards. It’s quite terrible and boring. Just filling out people’s personal information and sending it away. And bam, they get a check. I suppose that I get one too so it all works out. Anyway, yeah so we’re planning for the weekend.
Going to get a BBQ this weekend. I think that Laura has called me 4x already (she got out of work early) while in Home Depot grill shopping, but her phone keeps cutting out. Yeah, so besides the grill, we have to plant the lawn tonight. That’s a trick seeing as how in NYC it’s quite hard to find hay and grass seed and hose and things of that nature. I’ll probably have to bail out of here early to hit up the hardware store in Williamsburg.
Anyway, I’ve burned a few minutes at least. Back to work.

Finally up and Running

05.27.05

It’s now 11:07, so in all it took around 4 hours for me to figure out all the scripting and such to get this Blog up and running, but it’s up and good to go now. So I’ll be updating it as time passes. Also, Laura will have hers up in a day or so, and we’ll get that all going. It’ll be interesting to say the least.

6:00am…What the hell am I doing up?

05.27.05

Well I guess the main reason I’m up is because I took a three hour nap after I got home early from work. Yeah, I did it..left work early. So it’s now 6:00am and I’m awake and don’t have to be to work till 9:30.
My cats are still up at my parents house (that’s where we housed them during vacation last week) so I don’t even have them to keep me company. So let me tell you while I have a chance about Seven and Pud.
Seven: Seven is a pure black cat with three legs. He’s got this cute little white patch of hairs (maybe around 30 of them) on his chest). He lost his leg about a year ago, but is doing quite well now. He scuttles around the house and throws himself to the ground at a moments notice begging for belly rubs. It’s quite pathetic. Seven loves to sleep in bed with Laura and I, so we have to put an ottoman next to the bed for him to be able to jump onto so that he can get up to the bed. If you don’t have the damn ottoman there, he just cries and cries. It’s pathetic.
Pud: Pud is a tiny cat for her age. She’s just around 18 months old, and looks like a kitten. She’s colored like a wild dog. I can’t think of the real name for it right now, but it’ll come to me. She’s pretty quite and doesn’t say much but has an affinity to toilet paper rolls and Q-Tips. She LOVES Q-tips. We find them all over the house. I think she actually prefers the used ones, you know… flavor. Anyway, she’ll throw them in the air for hours and just play. She’s not much for sleeping with us, but she does love some good rough love. If you pick her up you can squeeze the shit out of her and she’ll just purrrrr away. Quite strange. She grows on your for all her annoying tendencies.
Anyway, Laura just yelled at me to get back in bed or I’ll never get back to New York time. Ugh… I hate laying in bed trying to sleep when you aren’t tired anymore.
We’ll see. I may just stay up.

Wanting to go home…badly.

05.26.05

Yep. It’s now 2:00. I feel like shit. Throat was all dry last night, kept waking up. Really irritating. I’m thinking that I’m still tired from getting back from Europe, so maybe that’s it. Who knows.
Plans are now finalized. We’re going to be having a BBQ at our place this Sat, the 29th of May in celebration of Memorial day. What fun. Bring some beer or food… it’ll be fun. Well… we hope so anyway. Ugk… going home.

Starting the Blog

05.26.05

After about two hours of stuggle, I was able to start this bitch up. Damn Movable Type and your terrible dirrections. Of course that only thing that REALLY stumped me was the damn changing of the password. Go figure
