Damn Apple and their terrible inventions

So today Apple just rolled out their new Hi-fi boombox audio player. Of course it plays off of 6 D-Cell batteries, so every jack ass in the subway is going to think it's okay to bring their stupid box on the subway and blast it. I'll be sure to make a note of the first time I see a terrible person carrying one around and playing it like a tool. Ugh...

So today I have to hand in my Prospectus for my Executive Leadership seminar. It came out to be 18 pages. I was impressed. I mean hell, I just wrote it this weekend and slapped together 18 pages. I guess that means I have a fairly firm grasp on the material. Well, I hope that I do anyway. Laura read it over and said that it looked okay. She's going to help me with starting sentences in throughout the paper, but as of now it's okay for what I need it to be.

I calculated it out and I have a whopping 75 days till I graduate! That's not even just counting school days, that's total days till I walk on May 17th. That's awesome. I look back and read some of my blog entries (they are now all imported in) and it's just amazing to see the time fly. It's interesting to me to see how much my life has changed without even really knowing it. I was so into photography and brewing beer at one point that I didn't even have the slightest thought of school. Now it takes up every waking moment, and when I'm not doing school stuff, I'm feeling guilty that I should be doing school stuff and working out or playing video games. Oh well.

So Columbia has this "E-Fair" online job fair. Although I'm not "supposed" to use that stuff because I've already accepted a job through them, I applied to like 15 different jobs today. None of them were really Austin based, so that sucks, but the system that Monster has makes it really easy to apply, so I figured it was worth it anyway.

Laura and I finally finalized out Spring Break plans. We're going to fly down to Houston and spend some time there. I'm going to get to see my old roommate/best friend who lives in Baton Rouge. We're going to drive up to Austin too, so that'll be fun. I'm determined to see the bats leave their cave at dusk. Apparently it's one of the largest bat flocks(?) around, so that'll be nifty. We're also thinking about heading up to Laura's father's ranch so that she can go horseback riding and that sort of thing.

Laura and I have been talking recently about staying in New York after graduation. Because well, I'm a lazy bastard and haven't really done a whole lot in terms of applying for jobs in Austin. I'm going to make some cold calls later on this week to see if I can't rustle up some job interviews over the break, but I don't know how successful I'm going to be.

If we end up staying in the city, there is a big dilemma. We don't know where we're going to live. My thought is that I really like our place, but Laura, who lives at home, is getting stir crazy not being around people in the city. Yes, we live in Brooklyn, but not around interesting stuff. It's very residential, so she doesn't really have a release if she needs it. I totally see where she's coming from, but we have another problem. We're just not going to find a better place in Manhattan without living in some area that sucks. Nor do I want to move. Nor do I want to pay a fucking broker any more money. I've already dumped enough on those low-life bastards over the years. So we'll see. I think that we have our apartment for at least till the end of May, so at that point I'm sure we'll be looking around to at least see what's out there. Ugh... maybe we'll get a loft somewhere. I dunno. I don't even want to think about having to pack up all our stuff again and move it around. It's just so terrible.

So I had an amazing week of work last week. I had two new people start at a long term temp job. So that means that for the next however long they are working (at least 3 months) I'll be pulling in around $0.68 an hour they work. While that's not all that great of a paycheck, consider that I have 4 of them now working for me. I'll pull in an extra $400 a month from that for doing nothing. Hell, I'll pull in $100 over spring break just for having them work. Not too shabby. My boss keeps making references that I should stay and I just laugh. He pays me a whopping $17/hr for my time. If I worked 40 hours, that's a whopping (even with making $500 in commissions a month) $38K. Around 20K shy of my other job offer. Not going to happen. Oh well. I'm rambling about boring finances.

I very much wish that I didn't have to go up to Columbia tonight. I just hate sitting through this terrible boring seminar. I think this is the last week of readings. Now we'll move on to paper presentations which is fine. I don't mind that at all. Getting up and talking about George Pullman for an hour isn't really a problem for me, nor is listening to other people and asking questions. I just hate having so much to read. I have my terrorism class that is going to be quite difficult which I do a bunch of reading for, so I'm already bogged down as it is.

Anyway, I have 20 minutes till I have to leave this terrible office to head up to an even more terrible work experience. Then I get to go home and deal with my computer which is all sorts of fucked up. Starting last night some sort of virus or something got onto my computer. It's my own fault for downloading cracks and serial numbers for stuff, but still. My anti-virus software locked me out the other day (probably because I was using a crack on it) so that's how it got infected. Just another mess I have to clean up.
