Cartoons, Firebombs and Idiot Bosses

At least I’m not the only one that things that the rioting in the Muslim world is a little misguided. I think that I learned the appropriate lesson regarding retaliation in say 5th grade. I recall someone making fun of me, so I punched them in the face. Turns out my reaction was inappropriate. Go figure. I just don’t understand how mocking a prophet (Yes, I realize that there could have been a little more consideration for other people’s values and beliefs) should equate to firebombs and rioting. Advocating for the murder of non-muslims just shows me that there is way too much fear in this world.

Okay, well on lighter news, Seven has a bald spot. Well, not a REAL bald spot, he’s still got the fluffy spring chicken fuzz, but it’s pretty much bald. Laura and I don’t know where it came from or why it’s there, but we’re thinking that it’s not a good thing. We got him some wet cat food to try to boost his vitamin intake. I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s not his diet that’s causing the issue, but one will never know. Eventually, if the fur doesn’t grow back, Laura and I will end up bringing him to the vet. Poor Seven, like he hasn’t been through enough.

So this past weekend Laura and I installed some more shelves in our apartment to combat the ever growing number of books. Laura is in desperate need of some Staples supplies including book ends, so her shelf is still empty. We have a big “reorganization” planned for the apartment, including getting rid of that huge rack of junk that stands behind our door. We planned on putting all of our beer making tools and buckets into the basement, but after the recent cleaning of our stuff that was down there, we’re kind of worried that things may or may not be safe in there. I may have to call our landlord to see if we’re allowed to have stuff down there.

So today is a good day at work. In a single week I’ve place two candidates in long term temp positions. So for every week that my candidates work, I’ll be making around $75. That’s not too shabby for not having to do anything and just collecting on their work. I can’t complain. I have this one candidate that is working for me right now that brings me around $170 week. She’s only been working for 2-3 weeks and she’s done at the end of next week, but that’s still a good amount of money that I’ll be getting from that. I find it funny that not even a week ago my boss was bitching at me that my “productivity has been dropping off, and I’ve seen a marked decline in your attitude at work” HA. I love just throwing that back at him. Gives such a nice feeling.

In my beer calendar today there was an excellent quote that I would like to share with you all:

“Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer.”
-Dave Barry

Not the most academically astute observation but a good one none the less.

Now that I’ve got a nice pat on the back from my boss, I think it’s time that I do some more work. I’d like to round it off to be a nice extra $100 a week for doing nothing. 
