Beer Wisdom: February 7th
Q: Can Men Live on Beer Alone?
A: Not quite, but almost.
Conventional barroom wisdom claims that it's possible for human being to sustain themselves on Guinness and milk. The argument goes that Guinness contains many of the essential vitamins and minerals, and milk supplies the required calcium and fat. Surprisingly, this is true, says Dr. Nigel Goodwin at the University of Nottingham, writing in New Scientist magazine, especially if you add a glass of orange juice for the vitamin C.
There is one catch: To receive your daily nutritional requirements, you'd have to drink one glass of OJ, 2 glasses of milk and 47 pints of Guinness.
