Applying for a position.

It's almost 6:30. I've been home for a little bit, messing around on the computer, eating supper and I went for a run. Thus far it's been a productive evening. Laura is in Mississippi on a business trip, so I plan on taking advantage of the quiet time in the house. Tonight is going to be the big push to get out as many job applications as I possibly can in a 2-3 hour period.
Yes. I know. I already have a job, but the fact of the matter remains that I would MUCH rather be moving my ass out of New York City come June, so at this point the only thing to do is apply apply apply and hope for the best.

Now that I've procrastinated just a little bit more, I'm going to finally start sending out some applications. Wish me luck.

I hate call waiting...

I got a call this morning on my cell phone, well a message anyway, from my mother. She leaves me a very short message with the gist of it being "Don't cash that check I gave you till you speak with me". Okay... not a problem. So I give the house a call. What do I get? A busy signal. That has to be the most annoying thing in the world. What makes it worse is that my parents used to have call waiting, but decided that they didn't like to have beeping in. What the hell! So I have this tiny little break between classes in which I would like to go and cash this check so that I have some money in the bank, but no, I can't get through to my parents because my mother is probably chatting away on the phone with my cousin. Probably talking about how my cousin's kids were crying and my cousin couldn't deal with it. Grrrrr.

Just irritates me that of all the things that my parents love about "new" technology, they decided that call waiting was the one thing that they could live without. Why can't you just ignore the beep? I just don't understand.

I'm off to class. Fun times.

Starting Over

After endless aggravation with IXWebHosting.com I finally decided to get the hell off their servers. So I've now set up my home on the BlueHost.com web server. So far it's been going well. No problems, easy setup and all that, so as far as that goes it's doing well.

School's in it's second semester. Job is lined up and I'm just waiting to get the hell out of there. I have been throwing applications out to various different positions around the country. No luck yet, but I can't say that I've really done all that much applying. In the coming weeks I'll be doing a bit more.
I did have a nice talk with the people at Laura's job. She works for a tech consultingish firm. Yes, consultingish, because pretty much her division has a software that they are setting up and running for the government, so I suppose that constitutes "consulting" but as of yet, she's not really been involved in the consulting end up till this point, but either way. She works from home and loves the people that she works with so overall it's been a really great thing for her. If I were somehow to land a spot there, we would be in a great spot to move wherever in the country we want. Right now we're holed up in Brooklyn, NY. Not that NY doesn't have it's upsides, it's just getting a bit old. As of now, I've been searching for a position in Austin, TX. No luck there.

Anyway, being as it is, I'm at work, so I should get working before I waste away the entire day.
