Operation Sweet Stout: Success
Laura and I brewed our first sweet stout today. It's in the fermenter hopefully starting to ferment. I'm quite excited. I've not had much experience with sweet stouts as it stands, but what I have had has been pretty good. Mackson's XXX Sweet Stout is available most places for those that haven't sampled the style.
So I figure that in about a week it should be all done fermenting and we'll be able to transfer to the secondary fermenter. We're hoping that we'll be able to brew again on Monday so that we can transfer the Stout to the secondary at pretty much the same time as the Scottish 80 Pence that we'll be brewing. I don't think it'll happen. Or another good scenario would be to transfer to the secondary (the Sweet Stout) while brewing to take up some time. We'll see how that all works out.
Tried a Dopplebock today. I wasn't impressed. The bottle that I had was called Celebrator Dopplebock. So many people really love it, but I just don't. I dunno, I think that I'll stick to my perenial favorites of Imperial Stouts and IPAs... can't beat your strong beers.
I told Laura that I would bring her to dinner tonight, so I figure that we'll head out to a Mexican joint that's pretty close to our house (not Crazy Nacho...well...Loco Burrito for the uninformed).
Anyway, it's off to get some Mexican food then possibly head out to a bar or something.
